Order Your Meals with Tablet but not Yours

Going to drink together is good opportunity to make relationship closer. We can choose our favorite one from Japanese restaurants or bars for the purpose. Nice drinks and meals help people enjoy talking about interesting things, private things, and sometimes complaints about their works.

I have noticed tablets equipped at each table in some restaurants and bars these days. I was able to order meals and beverages to kitchen staffs using it without calling any staffs. Unless you misused it, you could get your order rightly. After I ordered, waiter or waitress brought it to me. Absolutely, they were human, not robots. I think that it is convenient if the restaurant is crowded with visitors because any waiter will not come to our table quickly after we call him. The tablet can tell us how much we will pay for our orders if we want to check.

The upper sign of the tablet shows “Please call a staff if you want to check “. The bottom sign shows “Please make sure that your order is correct before you send your order. You can not exchange the order when you misuse the tablet.”.

If you made your reservation for a drinking party in advance, a appetizer (Otoshi or Tsukidashi in Japanese) and a damp washcloth (Oshibori) will be placed for each person before people take their seats. You can see a clean damp washcloth packed in plastic bag in the picture below. I believe that the restaurant asked other company to prepare the washcloth that was already sterilized. The service let us feel comfortable and being welcome by the restaurant. Do you have any faovite point in services of restaurants or bars those you often visit?

Quite interesting article. I like your style. Just one question: what is the purpose of the empty blue bowl on the second photo?

Thank you for the comments. I used the blue bowl to take my portion of one-pot cooking by myself. In the third picture, you can see notices on the table. A gas cooker was under them. A waiter brought one-pot cooking to us and we shared it using long chopsticks for common use.
